DR. IVO VOLT


Ivo Volt has worked at the University of Tartu since 1997, at first as an Adjunct Assistant, in 1999-2001 as a Project Manager and since 2002 as a Research Fellow. Since 1 March 2008 he is a half-time Research Fellow at the Department of Classical Philology and a half-time extraordinary Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre of Tartu University Library.

He graduated from the University of Tartu in classical philology in 1997, received his M.A. degree in classical philology in 2000 and Ph.D. in 2007, both from the University of Tartu. His doctoral thesis is titled Character description and invective: Peripatetics between ethics, comedy and rhetoric (access to e-book version).

Ivo Volt is in charge of the Classics Library and the home page of the Department of Classical Philology. He is the managing editor of the on-line journal of the humanities Studia Humaniora Tartuensia and one of the editors of the series Acta Societatis Morgensternianae. He was also the general editor of the 2nd edition of  Latin-Estonian Dictionary (2002).
